Summer 2010
Dear Families of Vaughn Students:
Thank you for another successful year. It has been so exciting to see the growth and accomplishments of our students here at Vaughn. Five students from grades 1st through 5th were honored by Aurora Scholars for overall excellence in school and we are all very proud of them! Two of our students’ essays about their grandparents were chosen as winners and three other students won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the FOTA art exhibition/contest. Not to mention the continued support from the Kiwanis Foundation throughout the year for our Terrific Readers and Writers and now their donation of bikes for five very lucky students!
Every success that Vaughn has had could not be done without your continued support. Keep up the great work over the summer. Remember while your children are home in the summer, there are many things that you can do to keep the learning going such as:
- Spend twenty minutes Reading with your child daily.
- Make reading fun by reading under a tree or going to the park.
- Have your children cut out coupons for the grocery store and talk about money you are saving by using coupons.
- You can visit Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science or the Martin Luther King Library
We look forward to seeing you in the fall. Mark your calendars that on August 3rd 2010 we will be having our Back to School Night and school starts on Wednesday, August 4th 2010 for 1st through 5th grade and Wednesday August 11 for Kindergarten students. Enjoy time with family and friends this summer.
