Vaughn Elementary

 

 

Hi there, my name is Jessica Boots. This is my first year teaching at Vaughn and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the third grade team. I grew up in Indiana where I attended Indiana University and majored in Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching in New Zealand and then made the move out to Denver, Colorado about a year ago. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing soccer, skiing, hiking, cooking, listening to music, and traveling. I look forward to to my first year of teaching and being part of the Vaughn team!

 

Hola, mi nombre es Jessica Boots. Este es mi primer año en Vaughn y estoy muy emocionado de tener la oportunidad de acompanar al equipo de tercer grado. Yo me crié en Indiana, donde asistí a la Universidad de Indiana y especialize en la Educación Primaria. Terminé mi enseñanza de los estudiantes en Nueva Zelanda y luego me mude a Denver, Colorado, hace aproximadamente un año. En mi tiempo libre me gusta pasar el tiempo con la familia y amigos, jugar al fútbol, esquíar, excursionismo, cocinar, escuchar música y viajar. Estoy entusiasmada en mi primer año de ser maestra y de ser parte del equipo de Vaughn!

 

 I am Pat Hernandez and I am in my 18th year of teaching where 11 of those years were spent in Denver and the past six here at Vaughn. I will be teaching 3rd grade this year. In the past I have usually taught fourth or fifth grade but  I am enjoying taking on the new challenge of teaching at the primary level. I am a Northwest Denver native and I currently reside there with my wife and dog. In my free time I enjoy being in the outdoors, rooting for my favorite Denver sports teams, and travelling.

 Soy Pat Hernandez y estoy en mi 18 año de ser maestro donde 11 de esos años enseñe en Denver y seis aquí en Vaughn. Este año voy a enseñar en el tercer grado.  En el pasado enseñe en el cuarto o quinto grado pero estoy disfrutando la oportunidad de ensenar en un grado principal.  Soy nativo de y sigo viviendo en el norte oeste parte de Denver con mi esposa y nuestro perro. En mi tiempo libre, me gusta estar afuera, apoyar a mis deportes favoritos de los equipos de Denver, y paseando.

 

My name is Robin Sands and I teach 3rd grade this year! I graduated from California State University, Fullerton and am working on my Master’s degree in Reading. I grew up in Denver but have lived in Orange County CA for the last twenty years. I moved back to CO six years ago and have never been happier. In my spare time I enjoy reading, painting and writing short stories. I hope to publish several children’s books. I have two cats and a little dog that I am sure will become characters in my stories because they each have such distinct personalities.

Mi nombre es Robin Sands y voy a enseñar en el 3º grado! Gradué de la Universidad de Fullerton en el Estado de California y conseguí mi Maestría en la Lectura. Crecí en Denver pero viví en Orange County, California para más de veinte años. ¡Me regrese a Colorado hace seis años y nunca he estado mas feliz! En mi tiempo libre me gusta leer, pintar y escribir cuentos. Espero publicar varios libros para niños. Tengo dos gatos y un perrito y estoy segura que voy a incluirlos en mis historias porque cada uno tiene personalidades muy distintas. 

FOURTH GRADE

 

My name is Kristina Lopez and this is my 7th year teaching at Vaughn. I'm happy to be at Vaughn and see all the growth our students are making. When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two wonderful children, Maya and David Jr. My kids keep me very busy and always on the move! I love to watch movies and get lost in great books. Being born and raised in Colorado, I also love being outdoors to camp, fish and just relax. I love all sports and can't wait for football season where my Sundays are dedicated to watching football games and cheering on our Denver Broncos. I have always wanted to be a teacher and I am glad that I get the amazing opportunity to work with your students. I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting year!

 

 

Hi! My name is Shay Holmes and I am very excited to be teaching 4th grade at Vaughn this year. This is my second year in Aurora Public Schools and prior to this I taught for a total of 17 years for Cherry Creek Schools and Shelby County Schools in Memphis, Tennessee. I have a wonderful family including my husband, 3 children, a dog, and a cat. I enjoy skiing, traveling, running in 5K races, and spending time with family and friends! I am so excited to be part of the Vaughn family and am looking forward to a great year!

Hola, Mi nombre es Shay Holmes y estoy muy entusiasmada de estar enseñando en el 4° grado aquí en Vaughn este año. Este año va ser mi primer año entero trabajando para las escuelas públicas de Aurora. Antes de trabajar para APS, trabaje para 17 años total en las escuelas públicas de Cherry Creek y Shelby County en Memphis, Tennessee. Tengo una familia maravillosa incluyendo mi esposo, tres hijos, un perro, y un gato. ¡Me gusta esquiar, pasear, corriendo en carreras, pasar tiempo con mi familia y amistades! ¡Yo estoy muy emocionada de ser parte de la familia de Vaughn y espero tener un gran año!

 

Hi, I'm Alexandria Lindsay! I've been teaching here at Vaughn for the past 8-years. Teaching is not just a career for me, it's my passion. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and Elementary Educationfrom Metropolitan State College of Denver, I began teaching. While teaching, I completed and received a Master's Degree from the University of Denver, in Educational Administration. The students, staff, and parents at Vaughn have made the past 8-years an amazing experience on my life journey that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. I chose to come to Vaughn because Vaughn's community is very similar to the community that I grew up in. Personally knowing some of the struggles that many families face everyday, has caused me to be extraordinarily passionate about providing students with an education that will prepare and equip them for their future. My hope is that our students will have the option to pursue whatever career they choose in their future because they've received the tools they need in order to get there.

Hi! I’m Mr. McGrath. I am fired up for teaching 4th grade math, science and social studies this year at Vaughn! I love working with numbers, doing experiments and studying history!

New Hampshire is where I grew up (Christa McAuliffe and Franklin Pierce were famous people who lived in New Hampshire. Have you heard of them?). When I was in fourth grade I loved to play baseball, study statistics and read Encyclopedia Brown books. Even though I’m a little older now, I still do love baseball and reading. My sister and two older brothers live back east. This past summer I was able to get back and visit them.

It will be a great year! Let’s SOAR together! Go Eagles!

 ¡Hola! Soy el Señor McGrath.  ¡Estoy entusiasmado ser maestro en el cuarto grado de matemáticas ciencias y estudios sociales este año en Vaughn!  ¡Me encanta trabajar con números, haciendo experimentos y el estudio de la historia!

New Hampshire es donde me crié (Christa McAuliffe y Franklin Pierce fueron personas famosos que vivieron en New Hampshire. ¿Ha oído de ellos?). Cuando estaba en cuarto grado me encantaba jugar béisbol, estudiar las estadísticas y leer libros del Encyclopedia Brown. A pesar de que estoy un poco más viejo ahora, todavía me encanta el béisbol y a leer. Mi hermana y dos hermanos mayores viven en el este. Este verano tuve la oportunidad de visitarlos.

Hello, I am Mrs. Soesbe and I teach fifth grade Math at Vaughn Elementary. I am originally from Illinois and moved to Colorado 6 years ago. I am going on my 13th year of teaching and I am really excited to be starting another new school year! I have been teaching 5th grade at Vaughn for 6 years. I really enjoy working with all ages of students and I’m very enthusiastic about my teaching and students’ learning. I look forward to working with a new group of students this year and can’t wait to see the knowledge that will be gained from each student. This is going to be a fun and productive year!  When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My family and I enjoy being outdoors. We like to go hiking, fishing, bike riding, walking, or just going to the dog park with our pugs Rocky and Lucy.

 Hola, soy la Sra. Soesbe y enseño matematicas en el quinto grado aquí en la Primaria Vaughn. Soy originalmente de Illinois y me mude a Colorado hace seis años. ¡Tengo 13 años de ser maestra y estoy emocionada de empezar un nuevo año! He estado enseñando en el quinto grado para cinco años en Vaughn y disfruto mucho trabajando con estudiantes de varios edades. Espero con entusiasmo de trabajar con alumnos nuevos y no aguanto la esperanza de ver cuánto aprende cada uno este año. ¡Este año va ser divertido y productivo! Cuando no estoy enseñando, me gusta compartir tiempo con mi familia y amistades. A mi familia le gusta andar afuera caminando, pescando, andar en bicicletas o no más yendo al parque con nuestros perros Rocky y Lucy.

 

 I am Karen Zazzaretti, Teacher in 5th Grade. I am currently working on my Master's as a Linguistically Diverse Educator. I have four grown children. My youngest is starting college this year. Although I have many interests, my favorite hobby is reading and thinking, so I have the perfect job for my hobby. I love music, and singing, and dancing, and people, and . . . well, everything. Probably one word that describes me is… enthusiastic.

 Yo soy Karen Zazzaretti, Maestra del 2° Grado. Estoy trabajando en consiguiendo mi Maestría para Educador de la Diversidad Lingüística. Tengo cuatro hijos adultos. El más joven empezó el colegio este año. Tengo muchos intereses, pero mi mas favorito pasatiempo es leer y pensar por eso tengo la perfecta carrera que apoya mi pasatiempo. ¡Me encanta la música, cantar, bailar, la gente, y pues… todo! ¡Probablemente una palabra que puede describirme es… entusiasmada!
